What is a clone?

A clone is a plant with identical genetics to the parent plant. Making a clone is done by taking a cutting from a mother plant and providing the necessary environment for them to grow roots. Hence, from a single seed, we can grow multiple identical plants.

How do seeds differ from clones?

In the first month of growth, a plant grown from seed has immature genetic material and will typically not flower within these initial stages even if exposed to a 12:12 lighting schedule. Clones however have matured genetic material by the time they have rooted and will flower immediately once exposed to 12 hours of darkness. Therefore, when buying a clone from us it is important to ensure that the clones are not exposed to a 12-hour dark period before they have grown to size. Seeds grow more symmetrical with larger internodal spaces in the early stages of life. There is no difference in the expected yield or quality between growing from seed or from clone.

Benefits of growing from clone

Growing from clone is faster than growing from seed. Clones are more reliable since they will have the exact same growing characteristics as the mother. When growing a set of clones from the same mother this is highly beneficial as the clones will all grow the same height, eat the same amount, harvest on the same day and will look, taste, and smell identical to one another. It is also a lot more affordable growing with clones over seeds, to buy seeds of certain genetics that we keep would cost a grower over R300 per plant. We have a variety of some of the top genetics available at affordable prices.
